We would like to take a brief moment to introduce ourselves. We are fellow unit owners in Abbey Springs and we are also real estate agents that focus on Abbey Springs. As fellow unit owners we want you to know how passionate we are about our community. No one knows more than Abbey Springers what a wonderful, hidden gem, we are a part of. Our goal with these letters and other communications is to make sure all members have access to information about our special real estate market.

I am John O’Laughlin and I was introduced to AS about eight years ago when I started working at the Yacht Club as a bartender and then as the Service Director. Shortly after I signed up for a course in Real Estate and I received my license in 2010. I worked full time for AS and Keefe until 2015 and in 2015 I decided to shift my focus to 100% real estate. I loved AS so much that I decided to buy into the Community. Currently I serve on the Abbey Springs Board of Directors. My wife Megan, my two kids Ainslie and Aiden, look forward to seeing you at the beach this summer!

The main question we are asked ALL THE TIME is “So what is going on with the market in Abbey Springs?”. We are always happy to answer this question – this is our chosen profession and we love it. So… let’s answer it! We have had a wonderful and busy beginning to the year which follows a very solid year in terms of overall activity.

I am sure you have heard the news that real estate prices are improving throughout the country. Unfortunately, the news regarding prices in Abbey Springs is not as great, but it is by no means dire. Remember that the national news focuses on the Single Family home markets and rarely mentions second home markets. Historically these markets lag behind but do eventually rebound.

Abbey Springs is such a unique community that it is often difficult to make generalized statements regarding values. Prices may be down from the highs of 2005 and along the way there have been some astonishingly low sales. However, the last two years have also seen some incredibly high prices.

Our overall impression of our market is positive. The strength of the Abbey Springs condo association has definitely helped keep the values higher than similar communities throughout the area.
